We wanted better screens, so we built them for you.

Phantom Screens has been setting
the bar for retractable screens for doors, windows, and outdoor spaces since
we started the business in a single-car garage back in 1992.

Our History

Over the years Phantom has excelled, expanded, and stayed laser-focused on our passion: making and installing the highest-quality retractable screens on the market.

Our founders: Syb Rypma was a Dutch immigrant with a unique idea never before seen in North America. He formed a partnership with the Rooke family in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. Together, they rented space in a garage and put up a sign. Phantom was born.

Our Vision

There when you need us, enhancing your lifestyle, making us your choice for retractable screen solutions… experience Phantom

You might be forgiven for thinking that a company’s mission statement or vision document doesn’t really matter. That they’re a bit of a cliché. In some cases, we’d have to agree with you.

But for us at Phantom Screens, our vision captures our overall direction in life. It’s where we’re heading – where we want to be in the future.

It’s our big, stretch goal.

Our Values

To speak the truth.

We believe every person has intrinsic worth, potential and value which can be expressed through genuine relationships. Relationships rely on trust and in turn, trust is only created if the truth is spoken, and what needs to be said, is said. This value challenges us to have commitment to truth and to deliver what we promise. It is not an expression of a particular religious belief, or a basis for exclusion. Rather, it is a mandate for inclusion and a constant reminder for us to think and do the right thing in the right way and requires mutual accountability. We strive for a corporate culture wherein all decision-making is surrounded by honesty, integrity and morality.

What do we mean?

Speaking the truth isn’t about being rude or harsh or obnoxious and it’s not about treating anyone as anything less than equal. We don’t tolerate dishonesty or using words or pictures just to make something “look good”.

We will be honest and tell it how it is – because trust matters.

To serve each other.

We believe that every person – regardless of personal beliefs or differences – has been created in the image and likeness of God. Phantom strives to ensure our corporate culture fosters a spirit of satisfaction, mutual respect and recognition. Phantom believes in not only empowering people, but also enabling them to succeed. By giving people the tools and training to develop, we increase their productivity and earnings, and enhance the dignity, self-respect and worth of each individual. It provides the basis for our belief in servant leadership. Our people’s personal lives are important and not to be ignored. We will strive to be a faith friendly company.

What do we mean?

Serving each other is about building people up – not knocking them down. Because we choose servant leadership as our guiding principle we try our very best to be inclusive, try not to be offensive and always seek to embrace the whole person. We want to celebrate people’s achievement and success, but also support them in tough times.

Put simply, this is our mandate for serving our customers to the very best of our ability.

To pursue excellence.

We continually seek better methods of delivering service and believe that every time we touch a customer’s life, we should provide added value for that customer. Pursuing excellence means that we must know our customers, understand their needs and expectations, regularly listen to them and adjust our processes and procedures to more effectively serve them.

What do we mean?

This isn’t just about the quality of the products we manufacture and distribute, fundamental though this is to our reputation and to our future success. Excellence is about freedom and creativity, allowing Phantom Screens to explore new ideas and make them happen. It’s about being creative, setting new standards and inspiring people.

It’s about taking care to get things right.

To practice stewardship.

We believe stewardship is an attitude of caring past ourselves. Being responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to us to achieve economic success, gives us the ability to positively affect the lives of all of our stakeholders being our people, our customers and our shareholders. We understand our social responsibility to help our surrounding community and world. Since profit is merely the applause for doing the right things in the right way, we have an obligation to give back. This will be not only in financial means but in our time and efforts as well.

What do we mean?

We’re not just thinking about ourselves and about Phantom Screens. Our ambition is to positively affect people’s lives and make a difference. How we act as a corporation is more than just about making money. It’s about our community.

We choose to get involved with both local and global communities.
