We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Assistant to be part of our dynamic finance team at our Corporate Office in Abbotsford.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities, has a can-do attitude and a desire to actively participate in continuous improvement processes.  A very good understanding of accounting processes – specifically accounts payable, accuracy, meticulous, attention to detail and a genuine desire to provide superior customer service are basic requirements of this role.  Minimum of one year of post-secondary education together with experience in a similar role is needed to be a perfect fit for this role. An exposure to accounting on technical platforms, like MACOLA will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and record all accounts payable transactions
  • Completing and maintaining general bookkeeping initiatives
  • Print cheques weekly (or as required) as per accounts payable policy, to maximize cash flow and ensure discounts are taken.
  • Verify, reconcile, code and maintain expense records and transactions on Macola
  • Ensure all monthly invoices (i.e. rent and common costs) are coded as per the GL expense code and entered on a timely basis as per month end calendar.

You should have strong working experience of Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss statements, should be an expert working on MS Office suite, especially MS Excel. As an integral member of the Finance team, the Accounting Assistant will be called upon to cross-train and provide back-up in other areas of the department.

Critical to this role is the ability to carry out accounts payable functions, data reconciliation, document control, and an understanding of accounting processes including how information flows through to the GL.
