About the home
Originally opened in 1889, The Algonquin Resort is a landmark in Canadian hospitality. Overlooking the picturesque Passamaquoddy Bay in St. Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick, the 233-room Tudor-style “Castle-by-the-Sea” reopened in March 2014 following a meticulously executed $30 million renovation.
Location: St Andrews by the Sea, New Brunswick
Product: Retractable door screens
The resort needed to source screens for the French doors that open to spacious balconies that would work with the period specific architecture. The screens also needed to keep out the pests while preserving the views of the outside
Ninety-three colour-matched Phantom retractable door screens were mounted inside the frame of the French doors. Guests are now able to leave the doors to the balcony open to let the fresh air into the rooms, without letting in the bugs. Phantom’s retractable door screens blend with the design of the rooms and stay out of sight when not in use; thereby, not blocking the views to the outside.
What makes this project special
The Algonquin Resort is an architectural icon of New Brunswick, and is one of the most photographed buildings in the province.
