1992

The original Phantom logo. A unique brand of retracting screens are introduced to North American market by a Dutch immigrant, Syb Rypma. He forms a partnership with the Rooke family in Abbotsford, BC and together they establish Phantom Screens.

1995

Map of Australia. Phantom Screens expands its international reach & signs a cooperation deal with Australian entrepreneurs Paul and Peter Swaffer to distribute Phantom’s screens exclusively in Australia and New Zealand.

1996

The re-designed Phantom door screen. Phantom Screens introduces a redesigned Phantom door screen.

1998

The Home Depot logo. Phantom Screens signs a distribution agreement with The Home Depot Canada, to support over 100 stores across the country with custom installed retractable screen solutions.

1999

Wayne Nelson, Esther de Wolde, and Ron Somers Business in Vancouver lists Phantom Screens as one of the fastest growing companies in British Columbia.

The new Phantom logo. Phantom Screens redevelops its image and launches a new brand strategy.

2000

The Executive Power Screen. Phantom Screens expands into the motorized retractable screen market by acquiring Executive Rollscreens of Florida.

The second Phantom building on Simpson Road. Phantom Screens completes the construction of a 45,000 sq ft office and manufacturing facility in Abbotsford, BC.

2001

The Lowe's logo. Phantom Screens signs a distribution agreement with Lowe’s US, making Phantom door screens available to customers through 1400 plus stores throughout the United States.

Esther holding the Entrepreneur of the Year award. Phantom Screens wins Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.

2005

Color fan deck spread out to show the wide variety of colors available. Phantom Screens introduces new Custom Coatings program, offering limitless color matching options for all of Phantom’s screen solutions.

The Serene Window Screen. Phantom Screen launches retractable Serene Window Screens.

2006

Group photo of Phantom Employees with World Vision poster. Phantom Screen selects World Vision as its corporate charity partner and raises $102,000 to renovate & expand a school in Senegal.

2007

A custom wood window with retractable screen. Phantom Screens is selected by JELD-WEN to integrate the Serene window screen into its custom wood window designs.

2008

Seiki Screen Systems logo Phantom Screens and Seiki Screen Systems of Japan partner to create North America’s largest line of retractable screen options.

2009

A Distinction retractable screen for large openings. Phantom expands it product categories to include two custom installed manual retractable screen options for folding door systems and large doorways.

A homeowner installing a do-it-yourself screen. Phantom Screens introduces a new line of DIY door screens to its North American markets as part of its alliance with Seiki Screen Systems.

2010

A Kolbe Terraspan doorway with motorized Executive Screen. Phantom Screens and Kolbe & Kolbe partner to offer motorized Executive screens for Kolbe’s TerraSpan doorways.

A 4-inch Executive unit. Phantom Screens introduces a more compact version of its motorized Executive Screen with a housing size of just 4″.
